About Dr Matthews Jennifer Matthews, ND, RM-c received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and Certificate of Midwifery from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. Bastyr University is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the study of natural healing, providing its students with rigorous and thorough training in medical science and the art of natural healing. Its physician graduates are trained over a period of five years to be skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, with both classroom training and more than 1000 hours of clinical training. Dr Matthews is also trained in all aspects of natural childbirth, having experienced more than 500 classroom hours and 2000 clinical hours of training including attending more than 150 deliveries. Her clinical experience includes the Bastyr Center for Natural Health, Emerald City Naturopathic Clinic, Seattle Naturopathy, Acupuncture, and Birth Center in Seattle, WA and Port Villa Hospital in Port Villa, Vanuatu. Dr Matthews is also certified in craniosacral therapy including somato-emotional release. Before attending medical school, Dr Matthews received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University College of the Cariboo with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Dr Matthews is planning to add midwifery care to her clinic in early 2008. Being a new mother, she has chosen to postpone this part of her services to care for her young child. |
